August, 2004
Greetings,
Welcome to Alvirne High School football for 2004. We are entering a new era with head coach Bob Nimblett at the helm of our program. I am looking forward to building a great relationship with him and the rest of our coaching staff. This promises to be a season of great highlights and excitement with the new coaching staff.
Since early August the players have been working hard to prepare for this season. They have put in many hours of work and study to learn a new system and take it from paper onto the playing field. It is wonderful to see the growth and development of our players as they become upper classman who will now lead our team through the season. The efforts of our cheerleaders and band have also been going on since the summer and I have confidence that each of these groups is going to give you their best effort. This can only result in a great sense of pride for our school and the Alvirne community.
High school football has become a part of the fabric of our society. But it is not just the game that makes it special, it is the event. This has become a social gathering for our students and people in our community. The cheerleading squad brings a special quality of energy and athleticism apart from the action of the field. Our marching band brings a different kind of energy that allows the crowd to feel the game. This along with the athletes on the field help to create what has become a special part of each weekend in the fall.
As a spectator you play an important role. The first role is as a supporter of the efforts of our students. The second role as a fan is to show good sportsmanship that helps to bring out the spirit of healthy competition. Instead of sitting back to relax watching the games; I would invite you get off your feet, raise your voice, and cheer our Broncos onto victory. Thank you for coming and enjoy the games.
GO BRONCOS!!
Yours,
Bryan Lane
